Platform Engineer (Virtualization & Kubernetes)

Summary

We are looking for a Platform Engineer with deep expertise in both hardware (physical layer) and software (virtualization first layer). This role is crucial in deploying, managing, and automating highly virtualized infrastructures across hybrid cloud platforms. You will work hands-on with VMware, Kubernetes, and modern automation tools to build scalable and resilient environments in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Virtualization & Cloud Infrastructure

• Deploy, configure, and manage virtualized environments using VMware ESXi, vSphere, OpenStack, and Wind River
• Design and implement scalable, fault-tolerant virtual infrastructures across data centers
• Support and maintain virtualization frameworks with a focus on performance, resource optimization, and capacity planning
• Assist with backup, disaster recovery, and failover strategies

Troubleshooting & Support

• Troubleshoot issues at the physical layer (hardware) and first layer of virtualization
• Proactively monitor and resolve issues within Kubernetes clusters
• Implement automated incident response to reduce manual intervention
• Optimize system performance and minimize operational overhead

Automation & DevOps

• Develop automation for provisioning, monitoring, and infrastructure management using Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins
• Support zero-touch provisioning (ZTP) and automated recovery
• Create and maintain scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation and operations
• Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines with tools like GitLab and Jenkins

Collaboration & Best Practices

• Collaborate with cloud, networking, and software teams to ensure seamless integration
• Promote best practices in virtualization, automation, and infrastructure as code
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing and documentation

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills

• Experience with VMware Cloud (VMC) on AWS and hybrid architectures
• Familiarity with Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Virtual Network Functions (VNF)
• Exposure to observability tools like Prometheus, FluentBit, or ELK Stack
